Merge pull request #466 from timburgan/fix/apple-silicon-qos-scheduling
tim(13 Jul 26)
fix: avoid pinning worker processes to E-cores on Apple Silicon On Apple Silicon Macs, the combination of RunLowPriority=true (the default) and unconditional setpriority() in CommandWorker causes macOS to schedule all compression tool subprocesses onto efficiency cores, which are 3-4x slower than performance cores. On Intel, this had no meaningful impact since all cores ran at the same speed. Changes: - Default RunLowPriority to false — modern macOS QoS handles resource management properly without manual deprioritization. - Only call setpriority() when low-priority mode is explicitly enabled, so normal runs use performance cores as intended. Users on Apple Silicon should see dramatic speed improvements (approaching or exceeding Intel performance) with these changes. Patch libpng for modern macOS SDK libpng-1.4.5 (vendored via optipng-0.6.5) #includes <fp.h> when TARGET_OS_MAC is set in pngconf.h. Modern Xcode auto-defines TARGET_OS_MAC=1 on darwin, so the build hits a missing Carbon-era header that was removed years ago. Strip TARGET_OS_MAC from the conditional after extraction so it falls through to <math.h> like every other platform.

Use Debian snapshot for advancecomp 1.15 source The SourceForge URL no longer serves the tarball (returns an HTML download page), and 1.15 is gone from upstream entirely — the GitHub releases for amadvance/advancecomp begin at 1.20, with restructured source incompatible with this Xcode project. snapshot.debian.org keeps historical Debian source tarballs indefinitely; the .orig.tar.gz it serves is the upstream tarball unmodified.
